Today was kind of a rough day. I felt very overwhelmed by housework, taking care of the kids, dishes, laundry, making meals, etc. After I dropped O off at school I went to the humane society with L and C to look for my Mom's cat. She wasn't there but she came home a couple hours. We came home and put C down for a nap. Did some cleaning while L watched Littlr Rascals-he loved it! After we picked up O from school we went to Kohl's and Shoe Carnival (successful both places!). On the way home I rewarded the kids with Wendy's (it was a reward for me too since I got a break from making dinner).
O came down with a fever after school so she'll be staying home from school. I asked her if staying home made her sad and she shook her head no. She said she likes to be home with me because she sometimes misses me when she's at school. It made me sad that she misses me but I know there will be a point that she doesn't miss me anymore. So we'll make the most of her sick day tomorrow. :)

Goal for the year
One of my goals for this year is to try a new recipe each week. I really enjoy cooking but I don't always have the time to look for new recipes or try them out. Today I made Hawaiian sweet bread. It was amazing! I'm excited to try it again and make rolls instead. I also made potato soup. Probably one of my favorite meals!
Cassidy is the funniest little one year old I have ever known. She is such a ham! She has such a silly personality and she knows it. She just loves to make people smile! She said the word "milk" for the first time today. She has been using some sign language to communicate since she was 8 months old but today was the first time she actually said something that she also knows how to sign. Her "milk" sounds more like "nuhh" but I'm so proud of her! Here is a great picture of D reading to the kids tonight.

Sick kids
What a crazy day! Olivia was back to ballet and school today. D and I could not find O's ballet shoes, snowpants or boots anywhere last night. So I went to Target while O was at ballet to buy her some new snow gear. I am so thankful for Bekah who came over spur of the moment to watch C and L while I got everything done.
All three kids have been sick for about a week. They have horrible coughs that probably sound a lot worse than they really are. Levi woke up this morning saying that his ear hurt really bad. His eyes have been hurting too. Levi has never had an ear infection before (pretty good for being almost four!). So I brought him to the Dr this afternoon and he had a double ear infection and possibly a sinus infection as well. He is pretty miserable so I'm glad I took him in. I ran to Meijer's to get his prescription and grabbed a few groceries while D gave the kids baths and got them tucked in bed. Here are a few pictures of the kids from today at the Dr.

Busy day
D took the day off today since New Year's was on Sunday this year. He went out to breakfast with a painter he's been working with a lot lately. The rest of the morning and part of the afternoon we spent cleaning.
D's grandma has been sick for a while and she isn't doing well. So we're trying to plan ahead and make arrangements for a trip to New York in the next few days or so. We went to the mall to try to find some clothes for the kids and me. That is definitely not an easy task! I think we got a good start but I'll have to go back to a few stores to try to find some more clothes for me. We has supper at Target and O and L were so cute and wanted to sit at a table together.
O's first Christmas break is officially over tomorrow. I so enjoyed having her home these past few weeks. She is excited to start school again tomorrow as well as ballet. I'm so glad that she has such a desire to learn.
C waited so patiently tonight for us to get the other kids tucked in before she could have her snack and antibiotic before bed. She decided to stack these glass candle holders and was so proud of what she had done!

A new year...
This blog will be my attempt at making up for all of the times I have failed to write down milestones of my kids. I'm also hoping to post a picture each day. It will hopefully sum up the kind of day we had.
We had such a great Christmas! It felt a little strange since there was no snow on the ground. D definitely out did himself though! Besides the 6 quart Kitchenaid mixer he bought me, he finally installed the gas fireplace that he bought two years ago. I absolutely love it! He just has to paint the library panels and build a box for the DVD player, cable box and receiver. I tried so hard to get a picture of all three kids in front of the fireplace but they were just not having it. This is about the best one.. C decided she needed "this" and wanted to go night-night.
